Usher Reflects On Slapping Nicki Minaj's Behind + Claims Himself Innocent With Alicia Keys

Usher recently tackled the topic of his Super Bowl halftime show performance with Alicia Keys during an appearance on "The Breakfast Club." He addressed the moment where he hugged Keys from behind, stating he sees no reason to apologize as it was a choreographed part of their "My Boo" performance.

In contrast, Usher expressed regret over a different incident from the 2014 VMAs involving Nicki Minaj. In that performance, he was seen bumping and grinding against Minaj's booty and then smacking it, actions he now acknowledges as excessive. Usher admitted to "wildin'" and noted that, although influenced by Jamaican dance culture, he realizes the inappropriateness of his actions in retrospect.

Usher also commented on a "Boondocks" episode reference, which depicted a woman becoming overly excited in his presence, attributing it to the "Usher effect." He denied any similar influence over his interaction with Alicia Keys, indicating the performance was purely professional.

Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys' husband, along with Usher, reportedly laughed off the Super Bowl performance incident, suggesting no hard feelings. Usher wrapped up his interview by noting that while he's on good terms with all parties involved, he plans to be more mindful of his actions moving forward, especially in public performances.
