Tyler, The Creator revealed he recorded his guest verse for Clipse’s track “P.O.V.” nearly 100 times before feeling it was ready.

In a recent interview, Tyler admitted he almost backed out of the feature entirely. He even texted Pusha T to say he might not be able to make it work. The pressure of collaborating with Clipse—one of his favorite groups—and delivering on a Pharrell beat was overwhelming. He called it a moment of needing to perform in front of “two of my Mount Rushmores” and didn’t want to mess it up.

Tyler received the track in April and spent over a month tweaking his verse, finally submitting the version in late May or early June. His dedication paid off, with many praising the final result for its lyrical precision and emotional weight.

The feature appears on Let God Sort Em Out, Clipse’s first album in over a decade. Tyler’s perfectionism underscores just how seriously he took the moment—and how much reverence he holds for hip-hop history.
