NFL Fines Jeff Ulbrich and Atlanta Falcons Over Prank Call to Shedeur Sanders

The NFL has fined the Atlanta Falcons $250,000 and their defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, $100,000 after Ulbrich’s 21-year-old son, Jax, made a prank call to quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Jax obtained Sanders' phone number from an unattended iPad at his family home and impersonated New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, falsely informing Sanders that the team was about to draft him.

The prank, which was recorded and went viral, gave Sanders false hope amidst his challenging draft experience.

While Jeff Ulbrich was determined not to have been directly involved, he was penalized for failing to properly secure confidential draft materials from his son.

The Falcons apologized and cooperated fully with the NFL’s investigation, committing to improved data security practices. The Ulbrich family plans to engage in community service related to the incident.
