Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’ Becomes Longest Running Number One Rap Album Ever

Kendrick Lamar’s GNX has officially become the longest-running No. 1 album in Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart history, holding the top spot for 22 weeks.

The project surpasses the previous record of 21 weeks held by Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon.

GNX, released in November 2024, debuted with 319,000 units sold in its first week and has maintained cultural dominance ever since.

Tracks like “Squabble Up,” “Luther,” and the explosive “Not Like Us” helped propel the album’s success, with the latter gaining additional momentum after Kendrick’s viral Super Bowl performance.

The album blends sharp lyricism, cinematic production, and a focused narrative arc that reinforces Kendrick’s place as one of the greatest in hip-hop history.

The Grand National Tour with SZA further boosted the album’s presence, grossing over $250 million across just a couple dozen shows.

With GNX, Kendrick isn’t just at the top of the charts—he’s in a league of his own.
