DJ Quik Appears To Take a Jab at Dr. Dre Over Industry Recognition

DJ Quik recently stirred conversation after responding to a fan who claimed he's “who everyone thinks Dr. Dre is.”

Quik simply replied, “Finally. Someone had the balls to say it,” fueling speculation that he feels overlooked despite his influence on West Coast hip-hop.

This isn't the first time Quik has voiced frustration about not receiving the same recognition as Dre. In the past, he acknowledged that lacking major label backing may have contributed to his underappreciation—while still expressing respect for Dre, calling him a “big brother.”

While some view it as shade, others see it as a long-overdue call for acknowledgment. For many fans, Quik's legacy deserves more credit than it gets.
